    Since SC-SHRM's regular meetings wrapped in last May, we've had some new additions to our board to continue growing our outreach and effectiveness in bringing the best resources to our members to develop their skills and acumen in the HR industry. We've added a Workforce Development chair, as well as a College Relations chair to our Board.  We're excited about both! The College Relations Chair, Barb Martin, works for Madison College, and is in the process of trying to coordinate a certification study group at the college. This is an area that our group has really been lacking in, so we're very excited at the prospect. Julie Adelman has joined as the Workforce Development chair to focus on development of the workforce to benefit both potential candidates and the local employers seeking skilled applicants. The other board members include President Trina McVicker, Molly Bauer, Kelly Bowden, Kim Meyer, Shaun Tofson, Steve Lundin, and Kayla Schaller.

    As summer drew to a close, on August 20 SC-SHRM hosted a very successful retention and recruitment social, where we invited all of our members, as well as potential members, to a happy hour at a local outdoor patio restaurant in the Dells. It was a great night, with great weather, and great company!  We had a fantastic turnout of around 30 people, and everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves. It was a good chance for members to get to network and talk to one another in a relaxed setting while enjoying some cocktails and pizza.

    September not only brought the return to school for students and the first few days of crisp fall air, but also the month for SC-SHRM to officially kick off their 2015-2016 membership year. While the board continued to meet through the summer, the first regular meeting with members took place on September 14. It was a great meeting to kick off the new year, with a fantastic presentation that has been put on at the State Conference in the past, "Spy Tactics".  We were delighted to host 60 attendees. 

    To continue our club's growth, this year we decided to run two contests: Current members that refer a member to join by the October meeting as well as those new members that join by the October meeting by both entered into a drawing. There will be a winner for both categories that receive a $50 gift card.

    The board is happy to have all our meetings through May set with dynamic speakers and topics, including special December meeting developed for supervisors and managers to attend. We look forward to a successful year of learning, growth, and making connections with colleagues!
